English

Students engage in daily intensive literacy programs tailored to individual abilities and needs. Our Direct Instruction (DI) Reading program and Comprehensive Literacy program align closely with the Western Australian Curriculum, targeting all English strands: Language, Literature, and Literacy. The DI Reading program includes assessments, instructional frameworks, and resources to develop strong reading skills. The Comprehensive Literacy Program focuses on reading and writing skills essential for academic success.

Mathematics

Students engage in daily mathematics programs emphasising practical application in areas such as time, money, and measurement. Our numeracy program aligns with the Western Australian Curriculum and incorporates explicit teaching tailored to individual learning needs using data from classroom and school-wide assessments.

HASS (Humanities & Social Sciences)

A cross-curricular approach integrates History and Social Sciences topics from the Western Australian Curriculum into literacy, Bush Ranger, and Aboriginal education lessons. This ensures meaningful and differentiated learning experiences encompassing geography, politics, and history.

Science

Students experience hands-on science programs that emphasise understanding, scientific inquiry, and practical application. Integrated experiences using the Western Australian Curriculum are inclusive and engaging, tailored to maximise participation and impact across all classes.

ASDAN

ASDAN offers a range of functional curriculum programs aimed at developing key skills and personal, social, and work capabilities. Students complete the Key Steps program over three years, which covers Citizenship, Physical and Health Education, Environmental Education, Personal Finance Education, Enterprise, and Internationalism. The activities are presented in the form of personal challenges and encourage students to develop skills and take responsibility for their own learning.

Aboriginal Education

Leeming SHS ESC is committed to fostering a culturally responsive environment that values diversity and closes the education gap for Aboriginal students. Cross-curricular programs integrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, languages, and cultures, aligning with Western Australian Curriculum outcomes and the Bush Ranger Cadet program. We actively collaborate with local Aboriginal organisations and community members to provide tailored support and resources to students and families.
