Leeming ESC offers a robust Vocational Education and Training (VET) program that equips eligible Year 11 and Year 12 students with the skills and qualifications required in the industry workplace. The program provides students with opportunities to gain industry-recognised qualifications that facilitate their transition from school to work or further education.

Person-Centred Planning: 'My Plan' Process

A cornerstone of our VET program is the person-centred "My Plan" process. This initiative involves students and their families in planning for life after school, creating a living document that outlines the student's goals and aspirations. The 'My Plan' guides students towards suitable pathways, which may include Nationally Recognised Certificate Courses and School-Based Traineeships (SBTs). SBTs are available to students who demonstrate the appropriate attitudes, skills, and interest in specific industry areas.

Diverse Training Opportunities

Students who meet the language, literacy and numeracy requirements (LLN) have access to a wide range of external TAFE Certificates and skillset programs in industries such as Logistics, Construction, Community Services, Painting and Decorating, Automotive, Animal Care, and Horticulture. Some students attend TAFE one day a week, with support from school staff if needed, while others receive training at school through an auspicing arrangement. Our school-based courses include Certificate I in Horticulture, delivered and assessed by teachers with a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and recent industry experience.

Nationally Recognised Qualifications

Framework (AQTF) have these competencies recorded on their Western Australian Statement of Student Achievement (WASSA) and/or Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). The goal is to position each student for successful entry-level employment or further study upon graduation.
