Year 10 is the transition year from middle to senior schooling; students are introduced to work experience through supported programs developing work capabilities. All students in Year 10 will be enrolled in a combination of endorsed programs through the Schools Curriculum Standards Authority and school developed programs. Specialist programs such as Home Economics, Art and Physical Education support students in gaining life skills and recreational experiences.
Students consolidate early work skills and associated pathways. Through a range of workplace opportunities, students are encouraged to discover future vocational pathways. All students in Year 11 are enrolled in a combination of endorsed programs through the School Curriculum Standards Authority and school developed programs. Specialist subjects change annually and are offered to provide students with an exciting and engaging program of study.
The focus of Year 12 is to consolidate pathways beyond school. Through work experience opportunities, students may be offered work trials which lead to post-school employment. TAFE courses are offered both on and off site and are complemented by classroom enrichment programs. An enterprise program allows students to experience the process of developing and running a micro business. All students in Year 12 are enrolled in a combination of endorsed programs through the School Curriculum Standards Authority and school developed programs. Specialist subjects change annually and are offered to provide students with an exciting and engaging program of study.
Vocational Education and Training at Leeming SHS Education Support Centre provides Year 11 and 12 students with opportunities to maximise their secondary education experience and gain additional skills to perform effectively in the workplace. VET Certificates and programs are designed to gain an industry-recognised qualification that assists students in their transition from school to work and/ or further education
Senior students (years 10 – 12) engage in the Workplace Learning program one day per week gaining a minimum of four industry experience placements over their senior schooling. The placements are determined through the student’s individualised My Plan career goals.
