Our Workplace Learning program offers students valuable work placements across various industries. Senior students (Years 11–12) participate in the program one day per week, gaining a minimum of four industry experience placements throughout their senior schooling. These placements align with each student’s individualised “My Plan” career goals.

In collaboration with over 50 host employers, students are provided with diverse work placement opportunities. These placements span a wide range of industry settings, including hospitality, retail, warehousing, automotive workshops, gyms, childcare, hospitals, and primary schools.

By exploring different industry sectors, students can identify the career pathways that best suit their interests and strengths. This exploration helps them focus on long-term employment goals. In addition to practical experience, students attend weekly classroom-based lessons on Authority Developed Workplace Learning Skills, which support their future career development.

The program emphasises work readiness and preparing students for potential paid employment. The goal is for students to leave school with an established work pathway, supporting a smooth transition from school to employment.

To complete this program, a student must:

  1. Work at least 55 hours in a real workplace.
  2. Complete a logbook:
An attendance record and task schedule
An evaluation of the student’s workplace performance
  3. Complete a skills journal:
During and/or after the work placement the student is required to respond to 10 questions based on the Core Skills for Work Developmental Framework.
